The AAS RA is determined to prove, using scientific research methods, but in "lay-man's terms," as to whether or not extraterrestrials have visited Earth in the remote past. Ever since Erich von Däniken's bestseller "Chariots of the Gods" a popular idea started to revolve around the world: extraterrestrials visited Earth thousands and thousands of years ago. They left traces behind in form of mysterious, enigmatic monuments, curious artifacts, and especially stunning descriptions of flying machines in ancient scriptures. If the "visitors-from-space," or Paleo-SETI, hypothesis is eventually proven and accepted by the larger scientific community, the AAS RA will not only have assisted in bringing this research to the general public, but we will also be continuing to incorporate it into our daily lives. The theory became public after Erich von Däniken (author of more than 25 best selling books) published "Chariots of the Gods" in 1969. The areas of the AAS RA have been established in the field of science under the title "Paleo-SETI-Research," a term which was first introduced by Dr. Vladimir Avinsky in 1989, and then popularized by Dr. Johannes Fiebag.
