While Fermi postulates that the universe is void of extraterrestrial life simply because any sentient species has a survival instinct that inevitably leads them to explore and ultimately to colonize the environment around them.
But…Fermi extremists have argued that any species would be older and therefore more evolved than earth. Perhaps the lack of evidence simply means we are not capable of perceiving them. They claim that much more evolved alien life forms could be seamless and invisible to the human perception as ::they predate us:: meaning humanity would never experience the clichéd “Arrival” that is anticipated if aliens were to come to Earth.
This is akin to being born deaf; there are people that have utterly no concept of sound, even if they lived in a cardboard box in Grand Central Station.
Ok, now what? The unseeing, unhearing denizens will all inevitably be harvested by a superior life form, but they have no clue. Is there anything left to discuss? Or have we just witnessed a living definition for something which is "Moot" ....
