Project S.T.R.A.T. (Special Telemetry Research and Tracking) was established in the spring of 1972 to conduct a scientific study into the phenomena of UFOs. Using a wide variety of custom built electronic & electro-magnetic detection and signal broadcasting equipment Project S.T.R.A.T. made some pioneering attempts to attract and UFOs into a laboratory setting. The idea being to measure the electromagnetic fields said to be given off by these objects at close range. In the summer of 1972 the first ULF (ultra Low Frequency, 40 hertz to 15 kilohertz) radio marker beacon started broadcasting a 150 watt ulf sequence of electronic tone pulses towards the stars. This meager beginning was the start of a 25 year effort to better understand a great mystery.
