http://www.nmsu.edu/Research/frontera/public_html/old_1996/jun96/3jun2196.html

Chronicled in all the major Mexico and U.S. newspapers, given life in toe-tapping cumbia and meringue tunes on both sides of the border, depicted in all his winged, fur-footed finery on T-shirts sold for 18 pesos on the streets of Ciudad Juárez, the chupacabra (or, goatsucker) has arrived. He even roosts on the Internet with, of all things, a Princeton University address.

Phenomenon spawns festival

http://www.chron.com/content/chronicle/metropolitan/96/08/10/chupacabra.html

Town turns chupacabra or goatsucker myth into benefit ZAPATA (AP) -- Think a festival to round up rattlesnakes is a little weird? You ain't heard nothing yet. This Texas border town is having a daylong celebration this weekend in honor of a mythical goatsucker. That's right, a goatsucker. "It's a festival like any other festival, but a little different," said Kate McVey, the mastermind of Zapata's first Chupacabras Festival. With the festival, the town hopes to suck all the benefit it can out of the chupacabra phenomenon sweeping Latin America and the U.S.-Mexico border.

One interesting feature of the way the chupacabras kills its victims is that a long telescopic device seems to protrude from one of its fangs and this makes the perfectly round puncture would in the victim through which a type of euthanasia technique is used.

http://www.geocities.com/TimesSquare/Alley/9701/chupa.html

Chupacabra R.C.C. The subjects of Mexican mythology of centuries are very real indeed. The "Chupacabra" (Spanish for "Goat Eater") are alien creatures from another planet called Xerxesya (Pronounced Zerr-zayz-ee-ah). The race's true name is Xerxessians. They came to Earth through a rift but have extensive knowledge of Earth due to their space probes and scout ships that have been visiting Earth since the early Pre-Rifts 1400s.
