From Arabic News, Three major Portuguese archeological sites dating back to the medieval era, were unearthed near the city of El-Jadida.

From ArabicNews, Archaeological evidence on North-African influence on Iberian populations were found in a cavern near the northern city of Tetouan.

Volubis is the site of the ancient Roman regional centre in the western North African province of Mauretania Tingitana, now Morocco. During the 2002 excavation season further sampling of evidence for the ancient environment and economy was carried out, and some laboratory analysis of samples from 2001 and 2002 was completed.

The project aims to further our understanding of the human past and its relationship to changes in environmental conditions in the Sahara and northern africa as a whole, through field-based archaeological and palaeo-environmental studies.
