I have been interested in UFOs since I was a child in the 1960s. Reading the widely-published misinformation of authors such as Donald E. Keyhoe and Frank Edwards, I was persuaded that 'there must be something to it.' Of course, UFOlogy in those days was much less wild than it is today. Even Keyhoe disbelieved most if not all claims of UFO "contact", and the early "abduction" cases.

LOS ANGELES - It was only a matter of time before a breakthrough in authenticating the existence of non-terrestrial UFOs would take place but, surely, nobody thought it would come about this way. Despite mounting evidence over the past half-century the arbiters and manipulators of public opinion in media, governmental and scientific circles, along with professional skeptics and debunkers, have marginalized serious discussion of UFOs and dismissed all evidence as inconclusive and flawed.

Skeptic - One who practices the method of suspended judgment, engages in rational and dispassionate reasoning as exemplified by the scientific method, shows willingness to consider alternative explanations without prejudice based on prior beliefs, and who seeks out evidence and carefully scrutinizes its validity.

Sometimes I'm asked by both sincere and insincere people to somehow prove to them that UFOs or abductions are real, worth studying, etc (note that I differentiate this challenge from proving that "aliens" are real, or exist - this site defines the "alien" presence differently than most abduction believers).

This maincircle is not perfectly round, instead, it appears as the combination of several short straight lines. This may just be what you would expect, if this cropcircle was due to unexperienced , playful wags. At least 2 wags (humans or ET-s ?) have been at work, one bending the crop, and another one directing him/her/it from the circle centre. Clear foot prints were visible at the centre. If a person, not necessarily consciously, does not want to find evidence of UFOs (or any subject for that matter), he could spend an eternity finding an infinite number of places this evidence does NOT exist.

Of the millions of UFO witnesses worldwide, probably the most reputable and respected are American astronauts. And of the dozens of reports associating astronauts with UFO encounters and photographs (most of which are exaggerated or entirely apocryphal), undoubtedly the best was the June 4, 1965 sighting reported by Maj. James McDivitt, command pilot of the two-man Gemini-4. His testimony baffled even the super-skeptical Condon Committee in 1969; a photograph from his flight has been widely hailed as one of the "best UFO photos ever made."

Washington -- Aliens may be right under our noses -- we're just not smart enough to see them. That was the message last week from UFOlogists at a symposium hosted by The George Washington University in Washington, D.C., and sponsored by the SciFi cable channel. Speakers at the meeting, "The Potential for Interstellar Travel and Unidentified Aerial Phenomena," reviewed the evidence for UFOs, from eyewitness reports and photographs to radar blips and chunks of molten metal.
