Dad, I'm sorry but to me your photo looks like a light shade hanging from the ceiling. Ann :P

It's a fake. I did it time ago for a presentation for a friend's book. Try to use a simple filter called fotocopy and you'll have the same as the first picture posted in this thread.

No, not photoshop; it can't use the rendering.
Try Maya ... :) But there are also many other programs able to do this: Blender (open source); Bryce (to pay); POV-Ray; Maya etc...

The initial image is obtained with a multi triangled one (CAD image); give some texture, colours, sky and clouds (to hide many things) and there it is.

For this making a serious check is not such a simple thing; if you have the original, can be possible obtain some result, but with copies of copies it's very hard and above all when they are jpeg/jpg format...

The second one looks to me like the planes have been superimposed over the top because the background including the clouds and the water look slightly blurred but the planes appear quite clear. Of course I'm no expert and would have no idea of what to look for so what I say wouldn't count. Ann :P

this maybe due to camera focus and shutter speed, i would guess, as the planes are moving and it looks to me the photo was taken from another plane too maybe, which would be moving too... i guess?

It would be cool if they were real, but I'm leaning towards those photos being fake. The object in the first photo looks like this Halloween display:

Here's some info about the picture I posted:

Alien crashes in North Syracuse! New Area 51 declared!
Posted by By Frederic Pierce October 17, 2007 5:36PM

Stan Munro of North Syracuse has my vote - so far - for the most unusual Halloween lawn ornament. I'm not sure how he did it, but he transformed his yard at 107Sandra Drive into the crash site that put Roswell, N.M. on the map.

A fog machine leaks smoke from the flying saucer's cracked dome every 20 seconds or so, according to Munro's friend, Sue Thomas, who submitted the photo. I hope to get more information on the hows and whys of this project, and will to post them here. Unless, of course, the cigarette-smoking man tries to stop me. (If you're not an old "X-Files" fan, just ignore that last part. Hey, the truth is out there.)

Some of you may remember Stan. He's that incredibly patient guy who built a city out of toothpicks. It was on display at the MOST, and the New York State Fair, and was recently sold to an owner of the Ripley's Believe it or Not chain of museums.

I can't believe anyone would ever look at that photo and even THINK it's real!
