Are you planning on getting the H1N1 Vaccine?

Postby Timbit » Fri Oct 30, 2009 4:02 pm

I am wondering how many of us are, or are not, going to get the H1N1 Vaccine.

There is so much controversy, and much to consider, especially fact from fiction.

I've created a poll to see what our members think.

Thanks,

Tim

I'm to old,Timbit, But probably wouldn't unless the VA advised the vaccine to be OK.

Some local doctors here are not recommending the vaccine, saying it contains to much mercury.

Don't know what the vaccine contains other than its made in chicken eggs like regular flu vaccine.

I'm not getting the Vaccine, simply because i don't trust it...i don't trust the whole thing.

I asked my doctor if she was going to have the Vaccine and she said she wasn't.

Her reason for not wanting the vaccine was that she wouldn't need it as she's fit and healthy. And bear in mind how many people who will have swine flu she will come into contact with on a daily basis.

Seems strange her not wanting as she will almost certainly contract the virus.

Surely if it's safe doctor... :?

Well, my son was diagnosed with H1N1 last night at a hospital in S. Korea. He was sent home under quarantine, with Tamiflu, for five days. He had the terrible headaches, high fever. Today he feels better with just a bit of chest congestion he says.

Talking to him on the phone he sounds fine. I've warned him with the information I have, especially that the virus can seem to be gone symptom wise, then hit with a vengence. He's being careful. As it turns out, a fellow teacher and friend from Canada is in his same apartment building, and he also has the swine flu, so the two of them are keeping eachother company.

Apparently 20 schools have closed in S. Korea, and 5 of my son's fellow teachers are also home under quarantine.

I have to admit it is a bit scary, and he's so far away.

The advice being given about swine flu medication and vaccines is conflicting and confusing to say the least.

I find it scary that 20 schools have closed in North Korea and there are quaratines set up and i also find it scary that we haven't heard a peep about this from our media.

I know someone who got better on Tamiflu..but i've also heard reports about it making feel really down and depressed. So it's kinda confusing, obviously there's going to be those who have a bad reaction..but it seems an awful lot are having bad reactions with these vaccines and meds of late.

Western media hypes up swine flu then it slips off the radar for a while. Just goes to show that around the world cases don't seem to be dropping as much as our media is making out.

I hope your son makes a speedy recovery, Tim.
My best wishes.

Peace, Caper.

Here in Czech Republic the media say the H1N1 was created by human. I don’t have time to look for the information to have my own opinion, but I think it is true. The principle of the vaccine was patented before the H1N1 was discovered. Also media are talking too much about this flu. The regular flu kills about 2000 people In Czech Republic every year and no media talk about this at all. Usually those are older or ill people. Now 5 old people had died in about 3 month on H1N1 and media talks about it every day.

Taking eveything into consideration...the whole thing stinks.

What i'm wondering is..did they expect more people to die? People have died due to H1N1 like Miro said..but indeed the amount of people who die of regular flu every year far surpasses the amount of H1N1 deaths.

And we have a vaccine already for swine flu..which for most people seems to be a relatively mild virus..and a recovery within a few days.

The vaccine seems to be the biggest danger from what i've heard and read.

I don't think the WHO has a clue what they are doing.

Here in Canada on the news tonight, popular opinion is we will be left with millions of doses leftover as people just are not getting it.

I was speaking to a few people when i was down at the doctors the other day and all of them were very skeptical about the need for and the effectiveness of the vaccine.

When speaking to the nurse though, i asked her if she'd been getting a lot of people coming in for the H1N1 vaccine..she said loads had been coming in. They were overwhelmed, apparently.

But speaking to people in general that doesn't seem to be the consensus at all.
