Wildlife biologist Eric York, 37, became infected while trying to determine why a female cat had died in Grand Canyon National Park. The culprit that killed him: pneumonic plague.

By Steve Sternberg, USA TODAY

One day last October, Eric York lugged the carcass of an adult mountain lion from his truck and laid it carefully on a tarp on the floor of his garage.

The female mountain lion had a bloody nose, but her hide bore no other signs of trauma. York, a biologist at Grand Canyon National Park in Arizona, found the big cat lying motionless near the canyon's South Rim. He was determined to learn why she died.

It is scary to think of the plague in terms of history, and the devastation and death to millions upon millions of people.

It has never been totally irradicated. Using these plagues as biological weapons of war is a very real possibility, and it has been done through history.

...And DON'T ever think that the U.S. CDC and the biological experimental facilities of other "civilized countries" aren't experimenting with ways to deliver these kinds of biological agents during a time of war!

And war doesn't have to be on the battleground in some remote place, away from civilizations.

War can be a few drops of a chemical that can affect millions, put into drinking water, or crops, or the atmosphere.

Surely if there were a plan to erradicate millions, the simplest way would be to do so without the use of conventional thinking, meaning guns, tanks and nukes.

Far too many options, and perhaps only a matter of time before we see a plague not produced by nature, but produced by man.
