I wasn't saying ban religion, or control religion, or prohibit people from worshiping.

What I was getting at was that because of a religious 'status' such as a priest has, that they are subject to exemptions that ordinary people, without that status, do not have. They are treated differently.

In one of the articles in the links, there was a directive from the Vatican that all cases of child abuse by priests were to be handled by the Vatican. That directive assisted in covering up and perpetuating the continuance of abuse of thousands of children at the hands of priests.

It is only after decades of abuse that, finally, they are seen as the predators they are, and their special status and protection no longer applies. It is only after the high profile cases in recent years in the US, that the Vatican has changed its tune in demanding justice for victims, and punishment of priests. It is a little harder for them to hide behind the collar when their occupations, and employers, can no longer protect them.

As long as the Church answers to the Vatican, there will probably always be some cover-up when it comes to Priest abuses. The Vatican wields a lot of Power, even over government Law.

How true.

We only know what they have been forced to admit to.
