Nice find Tweaked!
The emperors tomb is a very magnificent archaeological edifice..still relatively intact!
I was reading the other day that there is a building buried under the thing...i am not sure if they meant this room, but dont get that impression....
This site will be a major piece of history revealed when it is finally fully explored and catalogued...
Im staying tuned for the contents of that room for sure...whoever finds a reference get it posted PDQ OK?

Did you read that the Terra Cotta soldiers are beginning to crumble? Too much exposure to the air.

Funny, i thought they were hardened better than that by the kiln process....This will never do....
Is the chinese Gov planning to fix the problem? or do they still look with disdain on their cultural history like years ago running around with their little red books and destroying ancient relics wherever they find them?Is this attitude finally stopped?
The truth about what the Chinese Gov Boys really think would be a welcome bit of info...they are sooo inscrutable[laugh]
The olympics may bring about some changes in chinas lifestyle that they dont anticipate ...I hope for a loosening up of intellectual freedom after...

Last I heard they were considering re-burying them. Actually, that's the BEST of soultions ... except that no one can ever appreciate them again. So it seems to ME that enclosing them in a glass case - climate controlled, of course - with proper lighting and shade from the sun's rays in the daytime - would be the next best solution. Perhaps a retractable awning? We have some in California ... Sunsetters, I believe they're called? (smiles)

Holy Smoley TW!theres a whole army of these guys...hundreds and hundreds of them...it may be the best solution to rebury the bulk of them for the nonce, and put some examples in display cases.
There are way too many to preserve all of them right now....
Still, they are very valuable and very beautiful, i hope they do not just let them rot....

Me, too ... I will never go to Asia to see them, but I can appreciate their value to culture and to history. I loved seeing the photos of them on NGEO. Spectacular.

But they need to find out about that passageway and chamber before they bury the evidence... for another millenium to find.

I definately agree on that T!
The chinese have destroyed a whole lot of their history and heritage already....
The mad cycle of growth of the industrial china will destroy much more.....
This is one of the seven wonders of the world right now.....
