I couple of days ago, I was riding my bike when I saw this branch just hanging on an electrical/telephone wire. From my knowledge, there were no major storms or winds the night before. Just a weird little tidbit.

Maybe a bird was trying to fly off with it... a GIANT bird! And it proved to be too much...

Actually, it truly seems to be a mystery. Were there any trees close enough, and same kind of trees, for there to have been a weird wind sheer, or maybe it was knocked loose by a chopper hovering low?

not really, the trees near it were a good distance away, maybe 10 feet or more. We had a giant storm last night, so I don't think it's still there.

OMG! The branch is still there, and just will not go away. There is something defiantly weird about that branch. I looked around the area, and there is a tree to the southeast of it. The long branches extend near, but not directly over the wire. I will monitor it every other day if possible. I beilieve this is week 3 of it being up there. Someday, it's comin' down, and it will be mine!

If it's a hazard to the lines, perhaps you ought to call the telephone or the owner company and let them know it's there... Then you can ask them for possession of it.

I doubt it's a major hazard, because it isn't giant. The worst thing that could happen is the wire is broken there and sets fire to the branch, where embers fall into the ivy and bushes below.

That is a very big hazard. If it catches on fire, ad embers fall to the ivy and bushes below, you will have a HUGE fire. Also, if that branch is on fire, it will probably fall, and it can fall on somebody who might be trying to put out the fire, and kill them. All of this could happen. Now do you think that it isn't a big problem? :|
